A fire at Bungoma High School has razed a dormitory. The fire broke out at 5am on Friday while the students were attending their morning preps.
The affected students lost all their belongings in the dormitory fire. However, no student was injured in the incident.
So far, 7 schools in Bungoma County have reportedly had fire incidents. They include Kimilili Boys, Bukembe Boys, Chesamisi High, Ndivisi Boys, Khasoko Boys and Mbakalo High School.
The cause of the fire is yet to be established. However, investigations are underway led by Bungoma County Commissioner Samuel Kimiti, County Director of Education Philip Chirchir and other officials.
Parents from the school are calling on Education CS George Magoha to address the increasingly alarming situation.
Fire Incidents
The increase in fire incidents continues countrywide with churches in Kisii also bearing the brunt. Homes and plantations too in Transmara have not been spared.
Yesterday, 3 dormitories at Kituro High School in Baringo County were also torched. The Garissa County Assembly was also burnt in an incident whose cause is also yet to be known.
We still ask what could be the cause of these burning issues. Are they an outburst of a country whose burning inside with discontent?
