Prime Bank Robbery: Suspects Being Held In Connection To Daylight Robbery

Two police officers and a bank teller are being held in custody in connection to a robbery at Prime Bank on Mombasa Road. The robbery occurred on the afternoon of Monday, 18th January.

This theft was carried out in a scene that could only resemble one from the critically acclaimed  TV series, Money Heist.

Preliminary Investigations

According to the police, the robbers were 6 in number and had white caps and reflective jackets on. At first, a lorry belonging to the bank entered the compound and was parked outside the premises. The robbers then strategically positioned themselves, with one of them being left at the gate.

They first disarmed 2 Administration Police officers who were guarding the bank. Later, more men emerged carrying metal boxes believed to have been containing the cash. Some left on foot while 2 others left on a motorcycle.

A security guard working at the bank sustained slight rib injuries as he was hit by a gun. The building manager, however, confirmed that no victim was shot.

The two officers are being questioned as to how they got disarmed and their rounds of ammunition stolen. They are attached to the Critical Infrastructure Protection Unit in Lang’ata.

Kenyans shared their opinions online, many being marveled as to how the siege was carried out.

Police have also recovered the firearms lost during the siege. Apparently, the firearms were dropped off outside the Kiambu Hospital gate by a motorbike passenger.

The cops are asking for any information about the incident from the general public.

While we don’t condone crime at C.O.K, at least the robbers didn`t cause severe bodily harm or murder any of the victims in cold blood. This is completely the opposite of cases we’ve observed in current weeks like that of a murderous son who killed his family, or the disgruntled brother who butchered his sibling.

What fascinates Kenyans most is that so far none of the robbers has been arrested. Do you think the cops being held in custody could be in cahoots with the crooks?
