Murder Suspect Lawrence Warunge Unfit To Stand Trial: Court Declares as Girlfriend is Freed

Student Lawrence Warunge accused of killing four members of his family has been declared unfit to stand trial.

This is after a psychiatric report was presented to court on Tuesday following a mental assessment that he underwent.

Warunge had confessed to killing his parents, brother, cousin and a family worker. A week ago the worker’s friend revealed how he had narrowly escaped the and was the one who blew the whistle.

The 22-year-old revealed to detectives how he researched the killings. He added that he had picked up lessons from a killer’s character in the TV series “Killing Eve.”

The suspect yesterday failed to appear in court with investigators explaining that he had been taken for a mental assessment.

His girlfriend Sarah Muthoni was however presented before Kiambu Chief Magistrate Patricia Gichohi.

Pathologists established that there was a high likelihood that a single attacker had carried out the heinous act. This is according to Chief Government Pathologist Johansen Oduor.

“When I look at the injuries they look similar and from my observation, it is most likely the weapon used was used on all victims,” Dr. Oduor added.

Muthoni was thereby set free and will be allowed to testify as a prosecution witness.
