Britain has James Bond. America is even luckier having Ethan Hunt and Steve Rogers. Kenya on the other hand, has its own Jane Mugo and Inspector Mwala, lol!
Detective Jane Mugo is perhaps Kenya’s most famous yet controversial private investigator.
Jane claims to have solved hundreds of crimes, whereas some say she does this outside the law.
BBC Africa Eye Documentary released a piece on the controversial detective dubbed “Kenya’s Spy Queen”. In the video, journalist Sharon Machira spends time with Mugo in a bid to understand her life behind the scenes.
In the video which is mostly laughable, Machira sought to understand why even with the risks involved, Mugo still chooses to lead the life.
She shows her karate skills in the video, lol!
Jane Mugo came into the spotlight in 2019 when she was accused of threatening to kill two people. She was also sought by the DCI for various offences such as impersonation and robbery with violence. Mugo, however, got court orders lifting the arrest warrant on her.
Social Media Backlash
Kenyans were hysterical about the piece and showed this in memes on social media. Many saw it as an embarrassment to the country.
Let's keep this information within our borders… Haina haja majirani wajue…

Kenyans didn’t spare the reporter Sharon Machira. Some felt she was out to embarrass the country lol!
Sharon Machira needs to come out with a public apology for that piece of journalism she sent our way. 😂

Others feel the whole BBC Africa Eye show should be canceled.
Sharon Machira shouldn’t be crucified alone. Her boss who approved the stupid thing is @vlad_hernandez_ and probably did it to laugh at us.
The whole BBC Africa Eye is setup on caricaturing Africans with mediocre, shallow or pathetic pieces of “investigations.”

The backlash from Kenyans online led to the BBC News Africa turning off comments on the video on YouTube.
But let us know what you think in the comments. Is Jane Mugo really Kenya’s Spy Queen?
