All You Need To Know About Miss World Kenya 2021

This year’s Miss World Kenya event was held at The Trademark Hotel in Nairobi, Kenya. Last year’s event was cancelled due to the Covid-19 restrictions. 

The colorful ceremony was attended by various personalities, including Size 8, President Uhuru’s son Jomo Kenyatta and ICT CS Joe Mucheru.

16 contestants made it to this year’s finals, but only one took the crown.

Who Won Miss World Kenya 2021? 

Sharon Obara was crowned Miss World Kenya 2021. She was overwhelmed with joy and burst into tears as her name was called out.

Other finalists were Chantou Kwamboka and Mwihaki Njogu, who were first and second runners up respectively. The people’s choice award was received by Mokeira Onchiri.

What Is the Duty Of Miss World Kenya?

Individuals crowned Miss World Kenya get to participate in various charity events organized by the Miss World Kenya franchise office. The reigning beauty is also expected to run a project in a field that they are passionate about, dubbed Beauty With A Purpose.

For this, they will get to earn a stipend. 

As Miss World Kenya winner, Sharon Obara got to walk home with Ksh. 250,000 prize money.

She will represent Kenya at the Miss World competition in Puerto Rico which will be held on 16th, December 2021.

All You Need to Know About Sharon Obara, Miss Kenya 2021 

Sharon Obara is a final year student at Kenyatta University, pursuing a degree in Psychology. She says that her biggest fear is a mediocre life, sounds like a go-getter, don’t you think?

Obara is passionate about mental health, an issue that has been of particular concern due the Covid-19 pandemic.

“The pandemic has taken a toll on a lot of people especially mentally, so we are championing inclusivity and ways in which we can help each other to make ourselves better and tomorrow even better” 

– Sharon Obara.

Meet the Miss Kenya 2021 Judges 

Terry Mungai

Madam Terry Mungai is the founder and CEO of Ashleys Kenya Ltd, which owns Ashley’s Hair and Beauty Academy. Besides being an accomplished cosmetologist, Terry Mungai is a banker.

Big Ted

A well known name in the Kenyan entertainment circles, Thomas Kwaka aka Big Ted is one of the most sought-after Kenyan emcees. He is also Creative Economy Champion at the State House.

Robert Burale

The motivational speaker and preacher is known for his candid talks, sharing his experiences and giving advice to the youth. Burale is the director of the RB company.

Graham Shaw, MBE

Mr. Shaw is an accomplished businessman, with investments in Amana Capital, Afsat Africa, and Ramani Geosystems. 

He is also the CEO of Wilken Group of Companies, which owns a number of private companies in the aviation, technology and logistics industries.

Victoria Rubadiri

She is a well known name and face that has graced Kenyans’ screens. Victoria Rubadiri is a news anchor that has worked for Nation Media Group, and currently stationed at Royal Media Services-owned Citizen TV

In September 2020, she won the BBC World News Komla Dumor Award. She  will be heading to London for 3 months of training at the BBC Academy after winning the award.

Magline Jeruto

An experienced travel consultant, Magline Cheruto is Miss World Kenya 2017.

She currently works at the marketing department of the Kenya Tourism Board.

Franklyne Asoyo

Franklyne Herbert Asoyo is Mr. World Kenya 2019/2020.

Asoyo is an Electrical and Electronics Engineering graduate from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology.

These were the previous Miss World Kenya crown holders;

2017 – Magline Jeruto

The beauty queen was in the top 5 finalists of the global Miss World 2017 pageant.

2018 – Finali Galaiya

Finali is also a former KTN TV presenter, Miss India Kenya and Miss Attitude East Africa. 

2019 – Maria Nyamai Wavinya

The 21-year-old is a journalism student at Mount Kenya University.

2021 – Sharon Obara

As previously mentioned, the pageant was cancelled in 2020 due to the CoronaVirus pandemic.
