It has since been a rainy couple of days throughout the country.
Kenyans have had to bear the brunt of the rains with the Kenya Red Cross reporting floods in parts of the country.
An assessment done by our Emergency Operations Center in respective counties indicates that 111 households were displaced in Homabay, 84 households in Baringo & 176 households affected in Busia. Roads, too, have been rendered impassable.
The Oria-Riat bridge on River Kuja collapsed this morning after a lorry carrying sugarcane tried to cross. This left motorists from both sides stranded. The bridge interconnects Migori and Homabay counties.

Nairobians have in recent months had to deal with heavy traffic caused by the construction of the Nairobi Expressway. The recent rains have made the situation worse with motorists experiencing long hours in traffic.
