Kenyans Bear The Brunt Of Heavy Rains

On Monday, 10th, May, the weatherman issued a heavy rainfall advisory for various parts of the country.

It has since been a rainy couple of days throughout the country. 

Kenyans have had to bear the brunt of the rains with the Kenya Red Cross reporting floods in parts of the country.

Roads, too, have been rendered impassable.

The Oria-Riat bridge on River Kuja collapsed this morning after a lorry carrying sugarcane tried to cross. This left motorists from both sides stranded. The bridge interconnects Migori and Homabay counties.

Weather In Nairobi

The nation’s capital, too, hasn’t been spared. Quickmart supermarket in Kamakis, Ruiru, was flooded yesterday 11th May.

Nairobians have in recent months had to deal with heavy traffic caused by the construction of the Nairobi Expressway. The recent rains have made the situation worse with motorists experiencing long hours in traffic.

The situation was not any different this morning with heavy traffic experienced along Mombasa road.

Reports of rains pounding several parts of the country still continue to emerge.

 How long will the rains last?

The Kenya Meteorological Department has advised that the heavy rains will continue throughout the country. With a possibility of passing over
