Liverpool`s 68-Game Record Finally Broken at Anfield

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to tell that Liverpool are in a bad patch of form. Before their loss to Burnley, Liverpool had gone three games without scoring, a run which extended to four after their 1-0 home loss to Burnley.

The defeat to Burnley marks the first time Liverpool have lost at home in 1369 days. In 68 premier league games before the loss to Burnley, Liverpool had won 55 games, drawing 13. But who would have thought that their first home loss in almost four years would come at the hands of Burnley.

Liverpool last lost at Anfield in April, 2017 (2-1 to Crystal Palace). Shocker.

As usual, Burnley were solid at the back, blocking almost all shots made by the out-of-form Trent Alexander Arnold. Ashley Barnes scored the only goal of the game, a penalty in the 82nd minute.

The defeat leaves Liverpool almost out of the title race, with table topping Manchester united 6 points ahead. Manchester city are 4 points ahead, albeit with a game in hand.

Before this game, Burnley had last won at Anfield in September 1974. Liverpool, however, have a chance to bounce back. They next face Manchester United in the FA cup on Sunday before battling it out (away) to Tottenham the next Thursday. Jurgen Klopp will surely demand a response from his troops.

Here’s the EPL table after Liverpool`s loss, at home, to Burnley.
