A Ghanaian national has been arrested in connection with the stealing of Ksh. 9 Million. Also found in his possession was Ksh. 76,000 and material used in printing fake currency.
The suspect is believed to present himself as a preacher, targeting women who are looking for love. This according to detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
According to detectives, Victor Anane got the money from a senior manager of Tala Agencies. This is the parent company of popular mobile lending app Tala.
Online Date Gone South
Detectives reveal that the two met via an online dating app where the Ghanaian introduced himself as a preacher. He further claimed to be able perform miracles and could help the manager in landing a promotion.
That’s not all, he wooed the lady into falling in love with him, promising to turn her fortunes around.
Their online relationship blossomed and the lady manager was soon invited to the man’s home in Transview Estate, Athi River. She had already given the man Ksh. 9 Million, which is believed to have been withdrawn from the company’s accounts.
It was, however, during the first visit to his house that she was shocked to find material associated with witchcraft.
She couldn’t fathom how a preacher could possess witchcraft material in his house and of course, demanded answers.
The manager, whose name was withheld, informed the police of the incident, who in turn raided the suspect’s house. He is currently in custody and will be charged for obtaining money by false pretense.
Seems like a scene from a Nollywood movie.
