Jimmy Gait Under Fire For Insensitive Remarks

Jimmy Gait Under Fire For Insensitive Remarks

Singer Jimmy Gait has come under sharp criticism for remarks he made on the morning of Friday 13th August 2021. Gait was giving his take on the cases of Kenyan workers being mistreated in the Middle East.

According to the artist, Kenyans who have undergone mistreatment while working abroad are themselves to blame for their predicament. He particularly suggested that men working there have not gone through such difficulty because they do not mess around with their employers.

“There are so many Kenyan men working in the Middle East in Saudi, Qatar, Dubai the reason you don’t hear about men being mistreated is because they do not go sleeping with their bosses wives.”

He added that it is immoral acts that make Kenyans in the Middle East get in trouble.

“Most Kenyans go there and they start doing immoral things and that leads to them being mistreated”

Gait was speaking on the Hangout Friday show on K24.

KOT Wrath

Netizens were, of course, not pleased with the insensitive remarks, and shared their opinion on the same.

Some think he is saying this for clout.

Interestingly, some seem to support him

The “Huratiti” singer runs a recruitment agency that helps Kenyans secure jobs in Gulf countries. According to some, this could very well be influencing his comments.

We leave it to you. Are Jimmy Gait’s comments warranted? Are Kenyans, in particular, women, to blame for the mistreatment they receive in the Middle East?

Let us know in the comments and as always, keep it C.O.K.
