The National Police Service has given a strict notice warning against the failure to adhere to Covid-19 rules and guidelines. Through the office of the Inspector General, the Police have noted laxity in the enforcement of the said rules.
What Violations Has IG Mutyambai Mentioned?
The Inspector General has cited that there have been public gatherings held with no observance of social distancing. The same has also not been observed in Public Service Vehicles. He also noted that curfew hours have not been observed, as well as wearing masks in public.
In the announcement, the Inspector General reiterated that the government would be strict on enforcing Covid-19 rules.
What Has The IG Directed In Regards to Curfew and Covid 19 Violations?
- The IG has directed that persons intending to hold public gatherings should inform the nearest Officer Commanding Station (OCS). This should be done between 3 to 14 days before the event.
- Those found violating curfew hours of between 10pm and 4am shall face the law. Kenyans are also urged to wear their face masks correctly and observe social distancing, failure to which legal action shall be taken.
“I have directed all commanders to ensure strict enforcement of the Ministry of Health Covid-19 protocols and Regulations,” read the statement.
