After a humiliating UCL exit at the hands of Bayern, Barcelona have parted ways with their hugely unpopular head coach, Quique Setien.
The decision was announced on Monday, 17 August, days after arguably their most humiliating display. Former Barcelona ace and current Netherlands head coach, Ronald Koeman is reported to have agreed to personal terms with the Blaugrana, with an official announcement expected sooner rather than later.
Barcelona is currently in shambles after star player Lionel Messi allegedly demanded a transfer with his contract set to expire in 2021.
According to Goal.com, more changes are likely to occur as Barcelona look to rebuild ahead of a short preseason.
At the time of exiting Barcelona, Setien amassed an unimpressive 16 wins, 5 defeats, and 4 draws. In Barcelona, however, all managers are expected to win, win, and win!
The final nail on the coffin was Setien’s 8-2 loss to Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich
Besides announcing Setien`s dismissal, the board confirmed that the widely anticipated presidential elections will be held in March 2021, with current president Josep Maria Bartomeu under fire for his failures in recruitment and player management.
